5ive Jungle clothing is a premiere urban line founded on the idea that hip-hop and urban culture originated in New York. Hip-hop and urban wear has evolved from the 1970’s to present day, going through many phases, from bright colors to athletic wear, bling to Mafioso dress styles. Jean Choi, the former design director for the Southpole and LOT29, founded the 5ive Jungle clothing line in the spring of 2005. It received its name based on the belief that New York is the epicenter of hip hop and urban culture – music, art, fashion, style, et cetera – and therefore the brand name, 5ive jungle, was selected in reference to the five Boroughs of New York. According to one brand ambassador from the company, “5ive represents the five boroughs of New York. Jungle is the diversity and the street life of NYC.” Since then, 5ive jungle has become one of the premier fashion designers in the modern urban and hip-hop fashion industry.

It is currently considered to be a mid – tier to top – tier clothing line representing a primarily male demographic between the ages of 15 to 22 years old – the adolescent to young adult pier group for urban and hip hop fashion. According to the same brand representative, “We fill in between mid-tier to high-tier market. Our customers are a mix of urban and suburban kids between the ages of 15 to 22.” The 5ive jungle brand is trying to break into a higher tier market and promote its brand name, though, and according to the company, 5ive jungle has begun receiving some requests from celebrities for concert wardrobes and clothing for celebrity appearances.

The 5ive jungle clothing line still remains marketable to the everyday modern youth living and dressing the urban and hip-hop fashion and style, and features a variety of high quality clothing, including denim.

Many of the jeans and shirts feature metallic or gilded stitching and accents, brightly colored embroidery, and patterns currently popular in the hip hop culture.
