| Apple Bottoms Clothing |
Launched in 2003 by multi-platinum artist Nelly alongside business partners Yomi Martin and Ian Kelly.
Apple Bottom was started with the idea that “a woman should not have to fit the clothing, but that the clothing should fit the woman.” This trio were just coming off the success of their men’s clothing line, Vokal, and decided to tackle the void in urban fashion for woman.
The idea to launch Apple Bottoms was based on a tour to seek the ‘perfect’ model for the brand. The tour had Apple Bottoms teaming up with VH1 and collaborating on a reality show focusing on the search and competition for the first spokeswoman/model for Apple Bottoms.
Known primarily for their jeans, Apple Bottoms use the glamour of rhinestones and studs to show detail, and patterned fabrics, which change every season to add flair to the inside of the pockets. In 2004, Oprah came on stage during her show wearing a pair of Apple Bottom jeans and shortly after were featured on her Oprah’s Favorite Things List. The jeans have also been featured in her magazine, O.
The jeans were listed in the Denim Bible 2009 as a brand to watch.
