In September of 2004, multi-platinum R&B singer Beyonce Knowles along with her mother, Tina Knowles, created and launched House of Dereon, a clothing label that would bring Beyonce’s own unique style to the masses.

Taking its name from Beyonce’s grandmother, Agnez Dereon, who had a passion for creating beautiful clothing in Lousiana, Dereon launched with the tagline “Couture, Kick, Soul” inspired by the three generations coming together with different styles to create one signature look.

And the family didn’t jump into the fashion industry blind, during Beyonce’s time with Destiny’s Child Tina was the group’s clothing designer. The super group often earned rave reviews for the outfits they wore on stage, some of the same styles now available from the Dereon line.

In 2006, sister Solange Knowles joined Beyonce to introduce a junior line geared to younger consumers as well as being in a lower price range simply called Dereon. The tag line for the junior brand — “Where the sidewalk meets the catwalk.” — goes to support this brands more casual wear, including sweatpants and embroidered hooded sweatshirts.
