With the assistance of Marc Ecko, Rapper 50 Cent founded G-Unit clothing in 2003.
And while the line was inspired somewhat by the personal style of 50 Cent, all members of the G-Unit crew had input, including Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, 40 Glocc, Spider Loc, Young Hot Rod and Nice. G-Unit uses designs that reflect the lifestyle of a rugged man while portraying a sophisticated image. Even with help from Ecko, 50 also drew inspiration from his mentor, Eminem, who launched a similar partnership with Ecko when he created his Shady line of clothing.
The first G-Unit collection was launched in 2004 with a holiday release later that year. The partnership between Marc Ecko and 50 Cent has many unique advantages for G-Unit Clothing. With 50 Cent having ownership rights and fashion mogul Ecko at the helm of marketing and merchandising this brand has become a powerhouse in the fashion world.
In February 2009, 50-Cent unveiled a Spring and Summer line of high quality silk and cotton clothing.
